Interactive Map of Language Communities and Skills
This map shows the results of a research on language diversity and key competences of migrant and local adults in each of the involved countries, concerning the ability to communicate in different languages, cultural awareness and digital skills..
Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT)
Based on focus groups with real language teachers on the TBLT methodology, a theoretical and practical textbook has been developed. It includes the theoretical background of the TBLT methodology, practical exercises, tools, and guidelines for language teachers who want to implement the TBLT methodology. Furthermore, you will find a broad range of example activities that you can use as a template for your own language teaching. Therefore, there are 3 versions, one complete one with the theory and the example activities, one with only the theory, and one with only the activities. In this way, you can download exactly what serves you.
MOOC on Task-Based Language Teaching
The MOOC will include 5 modules about how to use TBLT for the teaching of a langauge in order to turn it into an asset for employability and social integration. This learning opportunity will be especially for migrants, yet it will also be open to anyone who is interested in acquiring a flexible technique to teach a language.
The MOOC will be developed in 2021, and consequently tested October 2021 onwards. During the testing phase, participants who are interested in becoming a language teacher can participate to the course, and will have the chance to practice their new knowledge in real-life classes and language exchanges with real participants. For local adults, the MOOC course will be the opportunity to learn a foreign langauge for free. Click here for more information about the MOOC and the start of the classes.
Hand-out for cultural and language exchanges
To increase the impact of the methodology and the competences learned in the MOOC, language cafes will be organized in which newly formed migrant language teachers can practice their teaching with local adults, while at the same time learning the local language as tandem language exchange go both ways. To give extra attention to the intercultural aspect of those encounters, special guidelines will be developed on how to organize these events while promoting language and cultural exchange.
Framework on Skills Screening, Monitoring and Validation
The validation of skills acquired through non-formal learning methodologies represents a key step of the upskilling pathway, especially for individuals who do not have the possibility to be involved in formal learning paths. In an effort to respond to this need, TANDEM shall provide the involved participants, both the migrant teachers as the local adult participants, with a chance to obtain recognition of their progress, thanks to the issuing of a certificate from language schools within the project consortium, and will develop a framework supporting skill screening, assessment and validation in non-formal language teaching.
